Pandora Channels

Oh goodness, Pandora, thank you so much for removing the 40 hour a month limit on your free service! This means when I'm canning salsa, making summer sausage, and tomato paste on a quiet Thursday in September... I can dance around my kitchen to lovely music without wondering if I'm about to hit my limit.

My channels are:
  • Hank Williams Radio
  • Rockin' Robin Radio
  • Bing Crosby Radio
  • White Flag (Dido) Radio
  • Jewel / Sarah McLaughlin Radio
  • Jingle Bell Rock Radio
  • Fryderyk Chopin Radio
  • In the Mood (Glenn Miller) Radio
  • Sergey Rachmaninov Radio
  • Johnny Cash Radio
Hm... classic country, oldies, crooners, indie, easy-listening pop, Christmas music, classical, big band swing... I like my taste.

What channels do you listen to on Pandora? (or what's your favorite music?)

Jack Johnson or Coldplay Radio is usually my default.  I've added some new stations now that we have a baby in the house.  Sound of Music Radio is my favorite to put on for Ben while I'm fixing dinner.  Yesterday we danced to Elvis Radio.

I always disliked that limit, though I never got close to it, but I did have to consider each time I played Pandora!  I create my own stations with what I endearingly still call "Study Music" since it's what I played in college.  It's instrumental and New Age music.  (I don't ascribe to New Age theories or anything, I like the music in that genre though).  Yanni is my #1, followed closely by Enya, Enigma, Celtic Women, and others.

And as a throwback (ha), I created a 90's pop with some of my favorite one-hit wonders, and still-doing-well artists too.  90's was middle and high school for me :)

Another option is Slacker radio - slacker.com - which is the same idea as Pandora.  I like it better some b/c it seems to have license to play my favorite artists more.  Pandora will play the artist once (like Yanni) but then not again the whole time I'm listening.

Ok, long enough.  Glad you enjoy your work and music together!

Best station is Alison Krauss for me :)  I also love harmony/duet songs so I listen to "Like we never loved at all" by Tim McGraw and his wife.  That station rolls out the duets!  I also love my fiddle music so I listen to Natalie MacMaster (I heard a rumor she's a second cousin of a third cousin of mine or something so I'm partial to her music).  I don't know about you, but I'm THIS CLOSE to turning on the Christmas stations!!!!

I saw the title of this post on another blog I read and I just had to click over b/c I am a Pandora junkie, too! And I had not heard that they lifted the 40 hour limit - that makes my day! I like the Sarah MacLaughlin channel too, as well as the Brandi Carlile and Ray LaMontagne channels. But nowadays we listen to a lot of Kids' Folk Station around here - I love hearing all the songs my mom used to play for us when we were little.

Sound of Music Radio? I didn't even realize such a thing existed -- awesome!! (Elvis Radio would rock the house, too)

Oh goodness, Kristy, I've liked so many songs that had the "new age acoustic" that they've added Enya and Celtic Woman to my Dido station, though, like you, I obviously don't go for the ideology.

90's pop? My friends can't believe I was a major fan of Plus 1, N Sync, & Backstreet Boys (though I didn't like Hansen or Britney). I have a soft spot for boy bands, to be sure.

I'll have to check out slacker -- thanks for the recommendation!

I listen to Christmas music all year round :). My Jingle Bell Rock station isn't just for December ;).

Oh I was a HUGE BSB fan.  I met them at a concert... highlight of my 17th year of life.  And while my love has waned as I've matured ;), I'm still a big fan in my heart.  My old high school friend just went to a concert on their current tour... I couldn't bring myself to spend money on those tickets when I have groceries and such for my family now.  Though it sounded fun ;)
